Shakera Richards, known as HD Petique, was born in Stony Hill, Saint Andrew, Jamaica, and raised in Portmore, Saint Catherine. She officially pursued her recording career in 2016, encouraged by peers who recognized both her penmanship and vocal command.
The name HD represents “High Definition,” while Petique blends “petite” and “unique,” reflecting both her physical presence and artistic individuality.
She writes her own lyrics and moves fluidly between reggae, dancehall, and R&B-influenced delivery. In 2024, she expanded her independence by registering Petique Records, stepping into music production as well.
Confidence has always been noted in her studio sessions — particularly in how she projects and adapts her flow across instrumentals.
Her supporters are known as the Petique Clique.
